I really like printed tags, and the Angus association has a tag store and does a nice job with printed tags with a little extra room for information.
I started managing some cows a couple years ago, and coming into a new herd of Angus cows that I needed to get to know in a hurry was a little challenging. I like to know more about my cattle than just their number and which cow they are! I ordered these tags with the year born on the top line, the sire's name below that, and the cow's tattoo number in big numbers below that. The farm name is also across the bottom. The print is small except for the main number, but it's there and easy enough to read if you're not too far away. You can even build the tag online, fill out a spreadsheet with the information to be printed, and order the tags with just a credit card. The worst thing is that they're laser printed, so the black print isn't real black...it's more dark gray/charcoal, and it doesn't show up real good on some colors of tags. I ordered some purple tags that I ended up sending back because they were too hard to read. Orange and yellow would be good, and I've used red, white and pink. The staff will tell you the black ones don't show up real sharp, and neither do the blue, green or purple.
Here's a link if you wanna check em out...
