Here's some pictures of a home grown steer my daughter has decided to keep for next years fair. He is an Aug. calf out of an Ali son and a WMW daughter. We wanted to see other peoples opinons on him. Thanks

I dont like the last picture at all. It is the angle or something. I like the rear and side picture. I think if you feed the heck out of him and make sure he has plenty of fill to blow out the gut he will do okay. I like his length of neck and body. Looks like he has some hair and rear quarter on him. Looks like he might be one you have to keep feed in front of him but he should do all right. Nice calf. Should be pretty fancy for county fair calf.

He's only been on feed for a few weeks and we just put a halter on him a week ago. So he is real green right now but he sure likes to eat so he should start to fill out. We kept his maternal brother a couple of years ago and he got too big he weighed 1485 at the fair but stll won res. So hopefully he won't get to that size. Hopefully he will grow some more hair but his disposition is great and he is very sound when he moves. The best thing about him is he home grown and that means he is FREE one less calf we haev to buy. :)

Free ones are always good!  He has white in all the wrong places, but should be fine for a county fair steer.

Looks like he might pinch a little in the heart girth, but could be just his age.  Would like to see him a little deeper ribbed and in the girth.  Next few months should tell a lot.

He is a little green and I would like to see more rib but he sure is fancy.  Pour the feed to him and I think he will work for a county show.  I am no expert but have done this with my kids and had some success.  Good luck!
