I had a heifer bred on July 1st she was AI'ed prefectly, so she would of been due on April 9th. On July 23th, she appeared to have a little mucus, and then the next day(24th) she tried mounting a steer as she was walked through the gate show day but the steer stopped pretty fast in front of her, so maybe she was just roudy. She was just fine the rest of the day and won overall showmanship. Then on August 16th she apeared to be in heat again so we had her re-bred her. She was preg checked in November and the vet said she was bred, but didnt feel how far she was along. Then today I was looking at all the new calves, and I noticed that she had mucus coming out of her. Any thoughts? Thanks

how is her bag?  Our last cow that calved had a good amount of mucus showing for about 2 weeks prior to calving.  I would also look at her vulva and see if it is getting enlarged.

I've had cows go into heat about a month before they calve. Some of them don't even look bred then all of a sudden they get a bag on them and they pop out a calf

She looks like she will pop at anytime(with how big she is). You can fit her bag in two hands, She is a tad swollen but not near enough that she will be popping one out real soon. We calve out about 200 first calf heifer a year, and we have quite a few that don't bag up until after they calve. And some of them don't get very swollen either.
