Make your heifer a cow first. Don't worry about the most whale butted calf you can get out of her. You will ruin her. Breed her Red Angus the first time. She will calve easy, she will breed back faster.. The calf will grow just fine and have a ton of vigor. On the other hand you could breed to so called calving ease shorthorn bull with today's hot pedigree and pull a 90 lb or bigger monster out of her.

Just my opinion!!!

If you are breeding a hiefer-Elbee Leader (WYMORE) hes $15 or 20 per straw-(Cattle Visions or SEK-cant remem. which) you cant go wrong-especially with the hip etc he puts on to be a calving ease bull-which is rare with Shorthorns right now-some of the Proud Jazz sons like :Capiche,or the JSF Addicted bull in Canada, and last but certainlt NOT LEAST-HC Touchdown,Cattle visions-I posted a pretty thick hiefer about on page 3 whos safe to him. REMEMBER-YOU ARE BREEDING A HIEFER-NOT A COW!!!! O0

I agree totally with Jeff and Mark. I would not even consider any bull who will add the most muscle for breeding a heifer. You should be selecting a bull for calving ease First, and conformation second. There are some very good choices of bulls that will calve easily and also improve the muscle somewhat. I don't think you need to breed her Red Angus for the first calf unless she is pretty small. Bulls like Wymore, Proud Jazz, Touchdown, and several others can be used on heifers without creating problems with the future production of your heifer. Take a look at the Shorty Heifer bulls thread. ... there are many more listed there that could be good choices.

Feeder duck is right on. If you want to breed her to a shorthorn first time just about any A@T bull will work. Lots of Rob Sneed bulls are very heifer friendly. Those genetics will give you a very vigorous calf that pops right out. I used a Sneed bull on every heifer. No problems at all. I think Cattlevisions is the best place to look.  Here is a pic of my Sneed bull. As far as thickest bulls, I sold a bull to JTM on here that is thick as a brick but I wouldnt say he is a heifer bull.  Second calf for sure would work for him. TG/ RRA Complete 421 in Cattle Visions. Been talked about on here before. In case folks may think I am just promoting my own bulls, I sold 100% of Complete and I only own a piece of one Sneed bull. About three years ago, I said aloha to all my mainstream shorthorn genetics and went with somethin different and proven. Best choice I have made yet in my farms direction. There are alot of really thick bulls bred up north of the border as well.

Were you able to purchase 034 semen earlier?  What is the breeding of this female?

The most experience i have is with Jake's Proud Jazz. He is decent on birthweights and calving but is also making moderate framed, easy fleshing cattle. He would probably thicken up a harder doing female but also give you a low birthweight, marketable calf for show or seedstock.

Well i should probably clear things up here she is a jakes proud jazz out of a profesor cow. we were going to breed her this spring and were synching her with a few others and part of the protocal was lutalyse and then a couple weeks later we had to have the vet out to pull her dead heifer calf which was full term according to the vet. she was only about a year and 3 months old. The herd bull who is not a calving ease bull had bread her out in the pasture when she was like 6 or 7 months old. So she is a cow but idk what to do in this situation and we only have a few hed of showy cows and would like a nice calf out of her next summer.
