Not to be argumentative, but I don't think you would ever get one short enough out of Hannibal on that cow for Texas steer shows. We bought a real nice Hannibal son a few years ago that is a little more moderate than daddy and haven't gotten a steer the right size yet out of him on Charolais cows yet. You just don't see that combination show up in sales very much either.
For Texas slick steers, either momma or daddy have to be real small I think. I think that cow is pretty big from the picture.
Safest bet for a good steer is Heatwave. If you don't want him (which personally I wouldn't), I'd suggest Walks Alone for a black bull or Solid Gold for a colored bull. I've seen a bunch of good ones this year out of those two and have used Walks Alone myself. The other bull that intrigues me for Charolais crosses is Bullicious (the bull promoted by Tony Austin). I saw him sell at Black's a few years ago and he is a little dude. I don't think he has ever been that heavily used, but I've like the calves I've seen. Don't know how they grow out.
