Angus breeder bought Lutton son an as had a red calf out of him the last two years. He says  Lutton is a red gene carrier thought there would surely be some clubby guy's that used him an proably bred to some red carrier's. Thank's for the information .FREDDY

There are some Angus that carry a red gene but they are tracked and noted by the Association.  I would find it very hard to believe that they would not have tested Lutton.

Could the red gene come through the bottom side of the bull's pedigree?  My brother is using a Lutton son also on angus cross females and it seems like he may have had a red calf too.

Red is a resessive gene in the angus many of the black angus carry a red gene if they are known they are traced you said it was a Lutton son he very possibly could have picked up the resessive gene from his mother
