So, my heifer has been out in pasture with the bull for just over 2 months now. I'm pretty positive she's pregnant now. She should have had 3 heat cycles by now, but the last one the bull wasn't interested in her at all. However, I have not put a halter on her since then. I get her back in the barn on Monday.
I have my club mini show in 2 weeks. It's where just my club shows and it's at another member's farm. Anyways, my heifer hasn't been haltered in 2 months and she wasn't all that trained to begin with. (I was focused on trained my steer.)
For example, I never was able to get her to set up correctly by walking into place. She liked to bring her back foot up afterwards and stand with her back feet way underneath her. Any tips to fix this?
She also is either way too stubborn or tries to run. This wasn't really a problem that i couldn't deal with, but my market steer sprained four of my fingers in my right hand a month ago. It hurts so bad that I can hardly write and I can't really hold anything in it.
So, any tips on making walking easier? My show lead is wrapped in vet wrap and I'll hold the extra lead from the rope halter in my right hand while walking, which seems to hurt less.
