Wilson's best claim to fame would be that he is the sire of Sun Seeker 99.9% by DNA test. He is a WMW on a Throttle cow. The dam on the registration is not correct right now but I will be getting it fixed asap. Jay Rhoadhorse raised Wilson and still owes his mother. He & Dean Sanders split a full-sib flush on her last fall & and have 10 full-sibs to Wilson either in recips or in the tank. Fred Campbell has 2 full sibs to Sun Seeker born last spring for sale now and 1 of those bulls did test double clean. Call Fred if interested.
I can't recommend Wilson for use on heifers, but what I have personally been around have seen no calving issues. My 3 calves last year came in approx. 80-85 lbs,(all heifers). IMO if given the chance on a number of cows, Wilson will have a better calf crop than Dr. Who or Hannibal,( sorry Brad), and I like those 2 bulls a lot. He will make flat out great females along with throwing some steers. I used him as the clean up bull for second time around AIing in the summer of 07. Where most PPL would use him would be on carrier genetics, but my 3 cows were clean. The other 2 calves were sold to be shown. We may go clip another one up sometime soon, if we do I'll try to post her up. BTW the heifer pictured is one that my 2 daughters used @ Kirk Stierwalt's clinic in Creston this last weekend. I had to mention it's their 1st clip job, and that I think that they did a great job, spoken like a proud father.
The dam is a ugly 14 year old, no ears, deep soggy big boned, PB Angus cow that came from Frank's Angus Ranch, Cottonwood Falls, Ks. She doesn't miss although she has began to get later & later calving. We'll probably leave her open after this springs calf and flush her to a few bulls if she's able. Semen is available from any of the owners , Champion Genetics in Texas, Hawkeye, & Don Coover, SEK Genetics. Most of you read Brad Hook's thread about Bounty Hunter and how he was thinking of re-promoting him, Wilson is kinda the same vintage and with Midas being listed as the sire of Sunseeker for so long, Wilson was lost for 3/4 years. out of the 15 or so calves that I personally knew of last year, all but 1 are going into a show ring @ some level this show season. There will be way more next year out of very good cows. Thanks for all of your kind complements. Sincerely, Brent C.
