I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on this bull, tell me what to expect out of him? I want to breed him to an Angus cow, I have seen another female out of this type of mating and she is very consistent and has great females. Any help at all appreciated. How thick was he? Frame score? Anything.

Thanks,

Cowman

I would gusse Impulse had a frame score in the neighbordood of 6 to 6.5.  We have used him with great success on smaller framed Angus type cows as well as Eagle Scout daughters.  Impulse does not work very well with EXT lines as far as show calves go these matings tend to get a little leggy.  If I were to use him agian I would use him on 6807, 23-4 type bloodlines.

I think that you may want to go take a look @ Impulse's most talked about son, CTR Success. He is virtually the same % Chi and is talked about quite frequently for making great momma cows. I would also use some of the JSC Momentum bull. Brent

We used him about 9 years ago and again a few years back.  Ours just got to framey to be show calves.  But on a smaller angus he might do alright.  We had better luck with his son Siccess

We used Impulse heavily several years ago, and loved the calved.  They made great feedlot cattle, but tended to have too much grow for the show cattle thing.  Birthweights were another issue for us.  They were big and stout from the start.  Success has been a great replacement to Impulse, and yes, probably the best Impulse son out there.  His birthweights are more moderate, good growth, but not quite as extreme, dispositions are better, and the maternal traits can't be beat.  Both of our donor cows are out of CTR Success.
