The yucca plant that I am thinking of is real sharp bladed. Cattle here will however eat the blooms or pods right off the top of the plant when mature. Native indians used the yucca plant for medicinal purposes. A weird note is that the american buffalo will eat yucca down to a nub. I couldn't believe it till I saw it. The leaves of yucca are real sharp and have actually drawn blood on me when poked. Their root goes down about 8 feet most of the time. Rattle snakes love to lay around the base of the darn things. Having a few around are good to catch blowing snow in this area but they can take over a rocky or sandy hill and make it almost useless for grazing. (dog)
