I've heard they quit selling Zilmax. Would this include the various show ring stuff that was similar. Thanks in advance.

Dimmax. Why don't you make a bull that negates the need.

It's probably hard after you took away all the hybrid vigor with your mongrel herd.

Merck pulled the feed additive off the market last week.  A few days previous to that Tyson said it would stop buying Zilmax cattle since they ship to Japan.  Japan has a few "food safety concerns" or as they should be called lawful trade barriers.  There are tenderness issues with Zilmax and I have been waiting for this day to come.  Many of the higher up people that I talked to in the cattle industry have said for a while that Zilmax meat quality issues would cause it to be pulled off the market.

Hamburgman.......I heard that there might be an animal activist issue as it kinda cripples cattle? One feedlot guy I know has been using it. Another one didn't but then starting using it. They claimed that the pens it was fed to.......when they loaded them out for harvest......would be a little unsound.

How do we know they were unsound or just a little tight or restricted after addition of muscle?

in this case that seems like a potato vs po tat o

Either way they were not as free moving and more vulnerable to falling and going lame/hurting themselves significantly.  Both are things the industry works to avoid.  I have heard others criticize Zilmax for the same reasons, also can make some cattle more flightly.

What would be the effect of a 60 ww bull on cattle vs overuse of low bw angus bulls?

To me, the level of use b antagonists indicate there is little need to improve the level of im fat.
