aj,this might open a can of worms.you can get the reg#s of the angus champions or any reg.angus and see what the bw is.now is the breeder sharing honest data, that could be questioned.if a a.i sire is used enough I believe the truth will be found.as we all know the AAA has become consumed with it.I believe for the most part it is a good thing.now if you want to talk about no live evaluations, there are several in the AAA that are buying cattle on EPD merit.Ive done it and it didnt work for me. Maybe there ought to be a poll....seriously......what would be the actual bwt of class winners in the national Angus or Shorthorn national shows. Make it a % deal. I bet 70% of Shorthorn bull class winners have a birth weight over 105#. Is this offbase?

It was pretty easy. I googled Shorthorn Champion Bulls at NAILE, NWSS and American Royal. You would be surprised it the birthweights are correct in the registration data base there were only a couple that were 100#'s or just over. TM Dazzler, TM Gus had great BW's as well as some of the other bulls under 90#'s. Could it be a confusion with the "popular" bulls or the champion bulls? Some of the more popular bulls are bigger on BWT's.

I stand corrected on the Shorthorn bwt deal then. On the Angus deal.....I'd say 85% of the commercial industry(in my area) have gone Angus. It is what it is. knabe... I know what you are saying but how do you go about telling 85% of the industry that THEY are stupid?
