What Simmental Heifer Bull to use on Chopper x Angus Heifers?

I think there are 2 Step Up bulls one is Purebred bull -WS A Step Up that is a Grandmaster X Macho cow. The other Step Up bull is an Upgrade son that is now a halfblood after orginally being a Purebred by Upgrade X Meyer734 cow. I believe there was an issue dna typing back to his mother.

Weaning Feeder Calves at 3 months old?

I was skeptical of early weaning. I was always taught the cows raise the calves, but I have sometimes weaned calves headed for show barn around 5 months. This year the drought has been horrible. I weaned all of my calves 1 month ago and they ranged from 3-7 months old and all had been on creep...

    Chopper

I have had 3 Chopper calves this year. 2 were around 80 lbs but had a 100 lb bull that was 4 days late and super stout. Cow he is out of his an older 7 FS 1700 lb Power Drive cow. He would have killed a heifer. She had him by herself. I have had cow 3 years and her last 2 calves were 75 lb...

lo weight steers.. think about it early

yep. same result. calves are behind b/c they haven't had enough feed 7 out of 10 times. Health issues and puds that don't grow are the rest of the reasons calves don't perform.

    Question for those that AI

When I started AIng I bought the electric thaw unit and started breeding cows without much luck. Very low conception rates and thinking back the only ones I ever got bred was when I thawed a straw in the cow. I was about to give up on AIng when I read Hook's post about thaw units shocking the...

    Preferred Preg Check Method?

BioPRYN blood test at 28 days is my preferred method since ultrasound isn't readily available in my area. Blood test works great in my opinion if you test at 28 days the you know whether they are AI bred or not. If you AI and turn in bull and wait 4 months to test. All you know is bred or not...

    Simmy Bull Uno Mas

Dream On and definitely not Goldmine don't work well on Angus cows. Goldmine throws some fancy calves with absolutley no muscle to them which most Angus don't need cause they already have that covered. Dream On is kind of the same way as Goldmine just not as drastic. Got to be a powerhouse cow...

    Bull suggestions II

Besides Troubador, Johnny Walker Red, and Tiger Woods. You might look into these bulls. Think I like Orange Char cross bulls best for your scenario. Nutter Butter is a Monopoly out of PB char cow. Should add power, moderate, and add body if those SH cows can bring the style. Nutter Butter-...

LTS Entourage Female -- Breeding Advice needed

KLER Make It Rain would be a great choice for this heifer. Think he would fancy her up especially thru her shoulders, neck, and head. Trademark would be my second choice. Most of the bulls that have been mentioned are good commercial bulls that will add what this female already has volume and...

What do you think of my show heifer?

It's funny because I thought she looked like a Ranchhand as soon as I saw her picture. He tends to make them a little shorter necked and wastier up front but makes the broody ones that make productive, efficient cows. I would breed her to Built Right. He is heifer safe and should help the...

    Multimin 90?

Multi Min 90 recommends a shot 4 weeks before calving and 4 weeks before breeding. 1 cc/200 lbs in cattle over 2 years. 1cc/100 lbs in 1-2 yr old cattle, not sure what calves were when I looked at it, but recommended 3 doses per year for bulls and replacement heifers.
