    Cottonseed "hulls"

We tend to to use hulls to adjust stool consistency esp before we hit a show.  We always keep some on hand and use it in the feed so they know the texture, but when things get a little loose on the back end of the digestive process, we will add more to the ration as a top dress.  Not varying...

    PB Simmi heifer

Attaching a link to a bull that Genex carries.  Have seen a few calves and really liked them.  He might be worth a look.  http://genex.crinet.com/beef/index.php?action=DETAIL&code=1AN01298&lang=EN

    Vitamin b dosage

Appetite Express worked better for us for getting calves to pick up eating after going through a slack time.  Used Vitamin B Complex but more as a general kick in the pants for lethargic animals that aren't displaying sickness on picture day!

    Heifer always coughing

Is there a chance she has had pneumonia?  If they get a case when young it can cause scar tissue in the lungs and a cough.  Have had a couple of show animals with the same issue.  No temp, no discharge, just a raspy cough.

    Plenty to be thankful for

Last week we spent a few days in Springfield, MO at the AJSA South Central Regional.  Quite a nice turn out with many states represented that were not in our region.  Both of my kids had a good time and met many new people in the industry.  Both of them were pulled back for the final round of...

    Proud Dad

To start this off, it has been a long summer.  From heifers getting sick, cows dying, to other things out of our control.  Through the thick and thin, my two have hung in there and that culminated this past weekend at the Missouri State Fair.  My sons heifer could have had a better show in the...

    Hypothetical Question.

Wouldnt hesitate.  We showed a a heifer for two years that was blind in the show side eye.  She caught a weed stob when around a month old.  Had to really keep an eye on stuff blowing into the eye as it seemed to get irritated easily.  She did well in the ring and no one was ever able to tell...
