Distillers grain is an energy source and also a protein source, i worked for an ethanol plant for 3 years, the protein spec is greater than 25 and this is what sells the product to most producers.

we use a 6500 watt that we can run two blowers off of.  if u go to a lot of shows in the summer i would go with a bigger generator our 6500 bogs down with 2 blowers and fans on.

  I also agree with everything the others have posted. I would get a top dress on the feed to help prevent it from coming back.

we our show heifers free choice of grass hay, and the show steers only get hay at night when they are turned out, it is grass hay also.  we don't give our show cattle any thing but grass hay
