We use a fair amount of distillers grain in our operation. Anything from a little bit to the cows every day to keep them coming up to the bunk so we can do vet/breeding work (also seems to help keep them in condition while nursing a calf) to use in grower rations as well as some in the finishing ration. While feeding the other day I got to wondering... What class of feed is distillers? A protien? An energy? Or is it something in between?

Distillers grain is an energy source and also a protein source, i worked for an ethanol plant for 3 years, the protein spec is greater than 25 and this is what sells the product to most producers.
