World's most beautiful cow on display in Quebec

Gotta love how beautiful dairy cows are -- I always love watching the Supreme Dairy Female show at our State Fair, they make it into a really big deal, it's awesome. They dim the lights and everything! Wish they'd do that for the beef supreme shows ;)

    Help on a fat steer

I'm assuming your county fair has a weight limit...if so what is it?

    Appetite Igniter????

I asked the Vita Ferm guys at Angus Nationals if there was any difference between it and VitaCharge (What I use) and they said it is exactly the same formula. I use it on my heifer who used to be a very picky eater and now she eats like a horse. I use the powder top dress. I'm very pleased with it.

trying to get fill in heifer????

Okay I have a feeling my math may be wrong but 6 pounds in a 3 qt scoop? Because each quart is 32 oz, so 32 x 3 is 96 oz, 96 oz = 6 pounds.

How would this work as a cool room?

Thank you for the info.. I had a feeling I was wrong ;) And I know that sticking them in a cool room is not the perfect fix...obviously. I meant that it would help with the hair growth and it wouldn't completely depend on us doing hair work every night, so they would have an extra push.

trying to get fill in heifer????

Sorry, all I know is that it is a 3 qt. scoop. I don't weigh it out..

How would this work as a cool room?

So I have been looking into getting some kind of cooler for our cattle. We rinse them every night and do a ton of hair work but I know how much easier it would be with a cooler! I was wondering if building a shed and sticking an air conditioner in it would work? I'm not sure how everyone else...

trying to get fill in heifer????

No we feed our show animals mixes from our local feed store. My heifers get a custom heifer mix and they are each getting about 3 scoops a day (I don't know how many pounds that is..), with the exception of my braunvieh heifer who does not need as much conditioning as my angus. I mix a scoop...

    ALIAS BRED HEIFER

If it is not foot rot then it could possibly be founder. If possible, I would bring them in a barn under some fans and just monitor them closely to see if they show any other symptoms than soreness on their feet.

    ALIAS BRED HEIFER

My only guess would be foot rot as far as something physical.... have they ever had problems walking/ do they have good structure? Like I said my guess is foot rot.. do their hooves crack whenever they walk or have a stench?

trying to get fill in heifer????

I use the powder as a topdress. I had trouble getting her to eat her food with it in at first but then I started to take a handful of feed and covered it up so she wouldn't see it. I wouldn't suggest mixing it in though, just because it is a topdress and she may not get all of it if it is mixed...

    How soon is too soon?

Try blood testing -- a lot cheaper and more effective than a preg check from a vet. http://lhvsinc.com/BioPRYN/

trying to get fill in heifer????

Wet beet pulp, and Winning Fill. It's a great roughage to get them filled up and looking nice, plus I have never met a cow that has not loved it! It smells good and tastes good to them. http://www.kentshowfeeds.com/products/beef/winning_fill.php Also, if she can sometimes be a picky eater and...

how to get angus calves to grow hair???

Rinse and repeat!! We do not have a cool room and all our angus have hair...and all we do is rinse them every night and brush. You can also get a cool collar, that keeps them cool plus stimulates hair growth. We also put ice cubes on their back and leave them on until they melt. The hair...
