So since you are such an outstanding leader I await patiently your new registry! To say that progeny of known carriers should be denied registry is the same thing as dialing back the progress 50 years. What about all the clean cattle that have been created by dirty parents. Those are to be...
BroncoFan you need to be showing dogs then. Few things in life are more subjective than cattle shows. One year at Denver we were 3rd out of 12 in junior show. Next day we were 12-15 in open show. Different judges different views of importance.
BroncoFan,
Your in the wrong arena if you think you'll have it figured out to where your always at the top. Except for a few exceptions around the country. I can prolly count them on one hand, everyone will have their day at the bottom. It's impossible to drag cattle that everyone will like...
Im not claiming they are PBs. Nor is anyone I know. We know they are crossbreds and we tell our kids we are looking for one that fits these visual characteristics.
The numbers show that the program is healthy and growing. How many Midwest state fairs are growing? So odviously the people participating don't mind the system. There is actually a lot of consistency due to the fact all shows and jackpots use the same criteria for visual definition of breeds...
There are 1700 exhibitors with steers at Houston this year. Each kid can only bring one steer. That's 3-4 times what the biggest Midwest state fairs have with kids bringing multiple steers. This is only one of the spring majors at Texas. It seems to me it's working ok? Can things be tweaked...
I can understand why a PB breeder might be aggravated by the classification system, but it actually takes all the lying out of it. If you read the rules at Texas majors it lists sets of visual characteristics that cattle must meet to be eligible to show in that breed. Nowhere does it say animal...
We might have to agree to disagree but how is it lying when the rules say you have to meet these visual criteria to show as such and such. It doesn't say you have to be a such and such. It says you have to appear as a such and such. Everyone knows it's part of the game. The monoply story was...
I'll be honest I think there's less lying involved with the classification system as opposed to papers. I know a shorthorn steer that was out of monopoly that did alot of winning up north that was "papered" as purebred. With the classification system the judges know and the classifiers know...
