I bred a few of my angus cows to a simmental bull, Star Power, for the first time.  I have 4 cows due in the next 10 days, just wondering if his calves come early or late?  I also bred a few to WMW, Swoosh, and Whose Your Daddy,  Any input on those would be welcomed.  Thanks

What kind of temperment do they have, unless there is a huge temperment issue, I'd go with the red angus. 

I purchased a hand full of straws this spring through Genex at $25/straw.  I should of been reselling them for $75 like l've seen listed. 

Have you dewormed her?  If not,I would bring a fecal sample to your local vet.  They would check to see if she was any worms, cocci, or any type of internal parasite.  Even if you've dewormed her, I still would bring a fecal in.  Providing you have a close vet in your area. 

  Dumb question but what exactly is a slick show, I'm not familiar with that terminology.

I agree 100% about county fairs.  Our county fair is this next week.  My son is showing a steer and heifer.  It's the same place I and my hubby showed as kids.  Our numbers are massively down compared to then, but are slowly increasing.  I still get that excited, nervous queasy feeling about...

We use the Calicrate bander on our spring calves in the fall.  We give them a tetanus vaccination along with a 7 way and a 5 way and then two - four weeks later we booster all, tetanus included and band at that time that's recommended protocol at the vet clinic I work at.

Would I use a cattle product or human product?  I suppose I could look in the sullivan's catalog.  I am way up north, in Minnesota, our cattle shows are few and far between up here and our ag stores do not have show products on the shelves.

And how easy is this?  I haven't even dyed  my own hair, let alone my critters.

I would like some advice on my son's show steer. It's two weeks from the county fair and I am trying to decide if I should clip his longer brownish/red tinted sun bleached  hair on his midsection, his hindquarter and shoulder are shed out to black.  Does anybody have any advice on that topic. ...
