    Steer-Any Thoughts?

This is a February 28th Simmental steer. He is out of BMR Explorer and I'm not sure what his dam's name is. I am thinking about getting him for a 4-H market steer. Pictures are from a cell phone and they aren't great. Any thoughts or opinions from what you can see?

    Questions to Ask

I am looking at a February 28 Simmental steer. He is about 3 hours away and I don't have time to go look, so my sister will be going to look at him later today. He is out of BMR Explorer. I am not sure who his dam is. I have not seen any recent pictures of him. I will be able to post some when...

    Irrational fears

CLOWNS. I have always been afraid of them and will hide behind whoever is around me to get away from them. I once went to a haunted house that had some really creepy looking clowns that were chasing people around and cornering them. I probably would have died if they had done it to me. I sort...

How long does your fair take to send you the check from the sale??

Our fair takes about 2-3 weeks. Our buyer's dinner and awards ceremony are both held before the auction. After your animal sells, you find your buyer in the bleachers and take them a buyer picture, thank you card, and whatever "buyer gift" you chose to give them. I know "add-ons" are open for...

    Opinions on This Calf

Here is our first 2010 bull calf. He is 2 1/2 months old now and has been a bottle baby since day one. Have I been a good mom so far? Any thoughts/opinions?

Anyone Familiar With Grass Seed Screening Pellets?

It has been suggested that I start feeding my steer grass seed screening pellets (grass seed screenings ground up and pelleted with soybean oil and molasses). I don't know much about them, but I do know that they are 9% protein, 2% fat and 27% fiber. I can get them for fairly cheap and it was...

    Drinking water at shows

I had a calf once that would only drink her water if I put Pepsi in it. It should work the same as Kool-Aid or Gatorade, but you shouldn't have to worry about staining. Plus, it was easiest to get at the time (vending machine on the other side of the barn).

    Feeding A Steer

I took my steer to spring weigh-in yesterday and he is 436 pounds. I have a little over 150 days to get him up to at least 900 pounds. He is not currently on any feed, but soon will be (just need to decide what to feed him). This is my first steer, so I'm not sure where to start. How much feed...

    New Clippers

Thanks to everyone who has given their opinions so far. Now for another question, are any of these clippers more comfortable to hold and clip with than others?

    New Clippers

I'm looking at getting a new set of clippers, but I'm not sure what to get. I do all of our clipping, so I'm trying to get everyone to pitch in and buy me a new set  ;). There are so many different ones out there. Right now, we have a set of Lister Star clippers, but I don't like how big they...
