Selling 140 head of Black and Black Whiteface bred heifers. 125 head are bred to Calving Ease Panther Creek Angus bulls and 15 head are AI bred to ABS “Sydgen Mandate.” The AI bred heifers were synchronized and bred in a 2-day period. The bulls were turned in on April 3rd and pulled after 75 days, to start calving January 10, 2011.

Cody purchased only heifers off the farm and only heifers in the Merial SureHealth program. Being a veterinarian, his father Dr. Grant Holst was always available, and this meant things were done right. In the spring these heifers were all wormed and had the following shots: Vira Shield 6 plus Vibrio, Lepto and Pinkeye. On July 1st they were wormed, and on September 24th they were wormed and had a Scour Boss 9 shot as well as pregnancy checked. Cody didn’t stop there—he consulted with Monte Rowland, a nutritionist, and followed his professional advice on proper nutrition for these heifers.

The heifers will be sorted and penned early on the morning of the sale. Complimentary homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee will be served. The auction will be held indoors with bleacher seating and with lunch available. Be sure to bring your trailers as we have a large, level, 10-acre graveled parking lot to accommodate all parking and plenty of help to load out. Trucking will be available. Cattle needing to be left 24 hours will be well cared for and help will be available for loading out any time on Sunday.

Auction to be held at Sullivan & Son Auction Site lacated 8 miles south of Carthage, IL (28 miles north of Quincy, IL or 34 miles west of Macomb, IL) on Illinois 336 Expressway.
