I had a cow calve Yesterday, Calf is 85 lbs, She is either 2 weeks late or 1 week early.

She was due the Feb 19th to climax we turnd Chance (blue Roan)  in 6-1 her return date was 6-3 for a March 12th she calves march 5th
Calf is solid black with a little white on the under line

I would have expected the calf to be bigger if it was that late

Any thoughts

Do Climax calves normally come that "small".  I thought they tended to come a little bigger.  297 days gestations would be pretty long.

We've had several calves that have been in that late or early? window this year.

Several years ago we had a lim x angus cow AI bred to a roan shorthorn bull.  When she was 16 days past the AI due date and still hadn't calved I was resigned to the fact that she would have a calf by the angus cleanup bull.  Surprised was an understatement when she had a 94 lb red neck roan on the twentieth day over her due date!
