I always feel like we are behind in this industry so if this isn't new to you all then I'm sorry. I hope it's true. It would be great for the Maine breed. I'll quote from the Maine-Anjou Voice.
If registering a bull calf after January 1, 2014, it must be TH/PHA free by parentage or have testing completed prior to registering and on file with the AMAA. Carriers will no longer be registered, but may be entered as a foundation animal.

I believe that eventually all calves will need to be TH/PHA free. I'm guessing the association realizes that a lot of farms have some carrier cows and people just can't up and sell them. Since bulls will have more get over their lifetime, the association can phase out the carrier bulls first.

(clapping) excellent idea. We have decided to test all our herd Bulls this year and are replacement females astarting this fall. We seen are first dirty calves this spring and won't stand for it again.
