Banding

Okay, not a steer but a goat. But hey, works the same just smaller =) My question is, I just bought my wether yesterday. He has been banded and they havent dropped yet. But while i have banded males before I have never seen them afterwards. What exactly is that area supposed to look like? I am worried something may be wrong with him, it seems like the area is pink and just too open.  ???

By dropped you mean off.... Right??

The area should not be pussy and smelly. No crusty scabs. If it is, you need some antibiotics and a topical, as well as a fly repellant. Clean the area well.
