I just had an accidental calf that has actually turned out quite nice. It is a Shorthorn/Simmental cross. Now in appendix shows i know that judges are looking for the calf that best represents the breed. The calf is sold red but has a black nose. I was wondering if this would count against me or if it would even matter or not? ???

If you have a good crossbred-the color and nose and everybody-dont mean nuthin-breeds of cattle were meant to be crossed to prove thier genetic worth-Shorthorns have allways crossed better than they bred straight-the better that calf-the more proud you oghta be. O0 <beer>

Like has allready been mentioned, there have been plenty of "purebred" cattle with black noses including "non appendix" cattle, I've seen full irish cattle with very black noses and black pigmentation around their eyes etc, so I would say go ahead and show her with pride.
