Telos, the calf is the steer I am showing this year.  The picture is about 3 months old though.

Brahma girl makes them and use to have an ad on here.

I have mixed emotions on the bling, but I'm guilty....I sell bling and as long as the check clears, I'll bling just about anything.

I agree, I mean showmanship should be based upon appearance but standing out too much is not good. I mean your trying to draw attention to your animal not yourself. Sure you have to be dressed nice and if you have long hair tie it back or present it neatly, but still a good showman should be able to draw attention to the animal he/she is showing, have it in the proper stance at all times, have complete control over that animal and so forth. I think that the whole 'bling' situation has gotten out of hand.

Like I said above, we are judging cattle not the apperal(halter) that they have on.

A couple a years back the boys and I watched the Scarlet and Gray. There were kids from all over the country there. There was one girl that stood out. The kids couldn't keep from laughing. I thought she looked completely ridiculous. She had on a Fur Vest, big sequend belt, mid drift over a long tee and all the jewlery to go with it. She definitely got noticed. Her calf was great and she won her class, but we couldn't get over the "over the top" clothes.
I think it should be simple!

Sometimes even simple can stand out too much.  One year someone at my fair wore dull orange pants and shirt.  She definitely stood out, and looked like a carrot.  Nothing over the top but not the best choice.

Miss Teen Idaho wears a fur vest,t-shirt, ratty blue jeans, white boots, white or black hat and a black belt.  It looks horrible, unperfessional and not like a rodeo queen and yet her money still allows her to win big pagents, (i dont like her but i havent competed against her, so it isnt me just being a sore loser. Her talent and attitude lack.)
