Blondes are usually a tall breed,so i would go with JIMMY THE GREEK,sometimes they don't have much depth or GUTS so maybe MONOPOLY,and they are usually finer boned breed so maybe BODACIOUS.Or just breed them to a good ANGUS bull and sell the calves as stockers.

Wow. The forgotten continental. If you asked my dad who the best cow he ever had in 87 years of trying to have good ones was, he would tell you it was a Blonde A'quitaine  shorthorn cross he had. In the late 60's or so, dad bought 5 amps of whatever BAQ bull Carnation was promoting. He thought the BAQ upon his research was the most balanced of the new continental breeds being hyped. More frame, but not like Chi or the Simmis of the time, more muscle and yield, but not extreme like the limi, alot of the attributes of the charolais without the hard calving, and also milked well.

All theory mind you.

Out of 5 amps, he got one calf, a heifer, out of a shorthorn cow. Shockingly, she was named "Blondy". She was born while Nixon was in office and I am pretty sure she voted for Clinton. I may be mistaken, but along the way I think she was bred to Ildeno, Bar 5 Casanova, Generation III, Power Plant, and her last AI was a Witchdoctor. Every one was the "good one" of the year, even out of the motley assortment of herd bulls she got cleaned up with.

So, to answer your question, in my VAST experience with BAQ, I suggest trying whatever suits your fancy. Try some mini power bulls like the Greek, try some clubby horn like DStuff derivatives, try some JPJ, Try some OCC angus. You got 30 head to work with, throw the poop on the wall and see what sticks. Just do me a favor and if you breed them shorthorn and get heifers, keep them for yourself and don't tell my dad ;D

Jakes Proud Jazz would bring you some colors to choose from and would easily register/sell as Shorthorn Plus.
