I read that i should use a rice brush to train my steers hair, but i've been using a scrub brush with stiff plastic bristles. Is that ok? or should i find a rice brush to use? what do you use?

I use both. The plastic wash brushes actually get down to the skin wheres the rice root brush is more just on the hair. I perfer the wash brush over the rice brush but i use them both

I like a rice brush on wet cattle. You can get one at any farm suppply store or through a show supply company. I use it to train the hair to stand up & especially on the legs.

We use the plastic wash brushes. They work great to train to hair, and have 2 uses, washing, and brushing. That way there is no need for two brushes.

We use both.  I prefer the rice root brush.  My 10 year old son likes a certain scrub brush more for the way it fits in his smaller hand..    He uses the RR brush but then often switches to the scrub brush if we are doing more than one calf.
