Who won the Calgary stampede Steer show? Does any one know the background on the steers that won?

That guy is LYING!!! Unless he was part owner of the champion steer.
cdncowboy said:I liked the champion steer - really a solid choice, that said it was perhaps one of the worst judging jobs I've seen in sometime. Not political just bad, he seemed to have no idea from one class to the next what he wanted in these steers heck in a couple classes I'm not sure he knew from one steer to the next. This years show had to potential to have one of the strongest championship classes in the last few years but there were some darn good steers that got dumped. This is not sour grapes either I had nothing entered, a couple I sold were there, and they got along okay.
Bawndoh, I'd be willing to say 50% or better are clubby bred. I find it really frustrating how little knowledge my fellow Saskatchewanians have of the steer business in Western Canada. It may not be the level of our southern neighbors dollar wise, but it is still competitive - ask those of us raising and selling them. We are a relatively small group with an equally small market, and not a real big dollar market. Which leads to most of us relying on name recognition and word of mouth for advertising rather than a true marketing campaign. Those who are looking for top end steers know where to go to find them, and it ain't at the local sale barn. Maybe next time before you add your comments - attend some of the sales and the shows and get a handle on what is really going on.

It happens and is advertised that way here in the states, all the time.I'm afraid if it was me in your position, that numskull that called you a liar would eat those words.Or maybe a knuckle sandwich?Yes, that might be pushing the envelope some, but some of these characters nowadays need some old fashion religion taught to them, this old world would be much better off.

If you traded it you picked a calf that has potential to go on and get better with time and win.
So either way I'd say you deserve some congrats.
The kid who raised the calf also deserves a heck of a round applause for picking the steer out from you, feeding right, managing right, and showing the calf to the best of his abilities.
Bawndoh, calling someone a liar is one heck of an accusation especially if you dont know all the facts. You said you didnt know if he was part owner when you called him liar. Not cool.
