My son went to feed his steer this evening and found what looked like a tooth in the feeder.  I didn't get a pic, and the boy lost it.  I don't think I could adequately describe it if I tried.

Can someone direct me to a site or book that will give me some information about bovine teeth?  I would be forever grateful.  :)

Is your Steer 18 - 20 months old?  He probably just lost one of his temporary incisors or "baby" teeth.

That could be.  All I know is the root end was hard and the other side looked like an open seed pod with four pockets, and it was extremely soft.  It was a dark, nasty gray color, too.
