Saw something this evening that has me wondering. Noticed a cow humped up with her tail over her back trying to urinate. She was dribbling a little and looked to be prolapsing with a baseball size, red protrusion. I watched her like this a few minutes, then she took several steps, urinated a fair amount, but not a large amount. After that she started grazing and was relaxed. She never really strained a lot.
She calved around mid March and is still nursing. She was A.I.ed in May and been with the clean-up bull since June 5. She was standing 4 days ago and I suppose was serviced, but I didn't observe a breeding since it was almost dark.
Any ideas what the protrusion meant and why she could only dribble small amounts of urine? Any chance it had something to do with the breeding 7/11?
