Cow in heat?

I have a cow that had a discharge 16 days after being bred. It was not a clear discharge like they have when they are in heat though...but it wasn't like infection. I watch my cows closely and never saw any sign of riding or anything and I did check her to see if she was standing when I saw the discharge, but she was not. Was she most likely in heat, or is it normal to have a discharge like that.
