Do any of you use field peas in your ration? If so, is there a limit on what percentage of the ration it can be? My cousin is growing them and wanted us to try them as literature says they are an excellent source of protein and great mixed in a ration. So, we gradually have switched our feeder calves to this ration and replaced soybean mill with cracked peas, about 20-25% of the ration is peas. The cattle eat them very well, but we notice them generally being loose. At first we thought this was due to the transition to the new ration but after nearly a month, we are still seeing it. The calves are also getting cane and oat hay and are limit fed.  We switched our show calves to grass/brome hay about 5 days ago and they are still are loose. Help!!
