Every breed has their own genetic traits which are more dominant in one breed over another. i.e. performance, maternal, carcass value, ruggedness in hot arid geographic regions, etc. It is the cattleman to choose which traits and breeds he/she wants to use in their herd, depending on the goals for your program.
Gelbvieh cattle do not have as much "inside lower rear quarter muscle" as some other breeds. Therefore, Gelbvieh do not normally work well when breeding for club calves, or to make club calf mama cows, in comparison to some other cattle breeds. IMHO
