I use CIDR's and a paint stick on the tailhead.  I have had alot of success with this over the past 4 years observing cows in the AM and PM (have to work during the day).  I have noticed that at the beginning I worried way to much and bred too early. (cow)

My vet says the side winders are the best that there is some problem with the blockage ring... can't remember what he said..... old age I guess....

I have AI bred since 1979 and all I have ever done was watch.  I have noticed that one cow seems to be more aggressive in mounting than others and that cow usually guides me to the one ready.  I have found heifers are more likely to ride those in heat than older cows.  I have tried a couple of different ways to synchronize and it works pretty good, but I have had greater success with just watching.

Thanks to all who put in their two cents worth.
