Some will disagree with me, and there are exceptions to every rule but...
I consider most (ok, almost ALL) clubby sires to be TERMINAL. That is what they were intented to be used for: steers and market heifers. The HW's I know of are a bit high headed, don't milk well (can you say "creep feed alot??") and are generally hard keeping. Not to mention that the genetic makeup of most clubby sires (including HW's) is a mixed bag and variation is the rule, not the exception.
So, in summary: I do not think clubby sires, including HW's, should be kept for breeding stock.
