Heifer's Ear Problem

I have a hiefer currently enjoying some time with a bull in a friend's pasture.  He called the other day to say that her ear had swollen up around the fly tag we put in her ear about a month ago.  We put her in the chute last night and cut the tag out...  It was all nasty full of puss and blood.  I rinsed it with hydrogen peroxide and sprayed it with wound coat.  Did not cut the rest of the mass off.  Any idea how to treat this?  My daughter is going to show her this fall.  Thanks

leave the tag out & keep it clean.  Maybe some antibiotic spray, but I wouldn't clean it with peroxide again.

Sounds like a allergic reaction. I would just leave it once it is clean and see how it is healing. Cows can come out of some nasty stuff.
