Help please

Hey I'm completely new to select breeding (ai) ... Also new to simmental cattle,  I just bought a little farm and 2 simmental cows... I'm trying to figure out what simmental sire to use and also what direction to go ( stock sell, shows, or online selling) my  wants to show them, but I'd like to make a little money off of them or at least break even! Lol

Well here are the 2 cows I bought, dream puff is a dream on cow and American Belle is a legacy cow and she is almost ready to give birth.

I would contact the people you bought them from and they might be able to give you some suggestions based on the cows you bought.

I agree. The previous owners not only know the pedigree, but can also give you the more heritable traits of your cows. Ask them lots of questions; drill down!

Alright thanks... I know they show them which is probably what I'll end up doing... What I'm concerned about is all the sires I like online have legacy or dream on genes, I'd really like to use upgrade, but I'm not sure if that'll hurt anything?

You are going to have a hard time escaping dream on but if you keep a daughter from upgrade then breed her to a D.O. grandson you will probably be ok

I personally would look at Upgrade or Grandmaster to outcross. Maybe Grandmaster on the Dream On and Upgrade on the Legacy cow.  I have never been disappointed with either of them so far.  Dream On is everywhere as we all know, Upgrade sons are starting to flood the catalogs and market.  I breed for mama cows so that I can always go back to Dream On influence when I want to. Hey thanks for the replies.  I guess I have a lot to learn, when you say out cross what do you mean? I thought if a cow had any connection to the bull, via grandparents, parents, sister, brother...  You couldn't use them? Thanks
