We currently have a steer that weighs around 800 lbs and we are in quite a situation. Our county weigh-in is the second weekend in February  and he has to be under 950 lbs. so we are trying to find some information on a holding ration or what to do. We do have a couple shows in between and still want to keep up his condition. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Evidently, what you are feeding now is working, so why change the ration?  All you need to do is cut back the amount you feed............GRADUALLY.  At 2 lbs. per day gain, he will hit 980.  About 36 -48 hours before weigh-in, pull his water.  It's easy to drop 50 lbs. of water weight.  Also, don't let him graze.
