How long until "herd" accepts new steer?

We just brought home a new steer and put him in our five acre pasture with our other two show steers and about ten head of corriente/longhorn cross heifers.  After their initial greeting our new guy just hangs out on the fringe of the group by himself. Can anyone tell me how long I should expect for it to take before he is part of the herd?

Give em a few days and they'll warm up to him. I wouldn't worry much about it.

I guess I shouldn't worry. We have always moved two or more together - he is our first solo - and he just looks so pathetic by himself. He is mixed in the group a little more this morning, but still not engaged with the others. I guess I need to just take a deep breath and relax!  Thanks.
