Can anyone give us a report on the show? What looked good? Surprises?
Any info would be appreciated!

Buck said:I saw where Lautners are advertising a clean sweep. Also noticed that most of the winners were reported to be out of Monopoly or Clones. My thoughts, those cattle must have a consistent distinctive look and the judge must like that look.
rjb said:My daughter had the champion Angus steer at the Iowa state fair so I had an up close and personal view of all the calves in the grand drive...the champion and reserve were easy choices. The next 3 were same type and kind. All extremely long bodied and sound. He wasn't much on being a power house steer. That's why the chi and Maine were left standing. My thinking for next yr is u better have a long extended sound steer.....that big butted compacted steer won't cut it with jack ward. He's hfr guy and that's what he likes
rjb said:Him and the 5th overall were built about the same...I would call him long bodied just short necked. They were the powerhouses of the 5 but could still move. But with everything being said none of us got our hands on them those top 2 could've been 12 o'clock I'm guessing jorgensons was about 11:45 that's what moved him up in class then division. And cores an mccollohs were really his type just neither one was perfect for him but still good enough to use that's why they stuck together all day. Just my opinion though

What i couldnt figure out is how he was so critical of the champion and res divison 3 winners in class and then used them to win division. The group of people i was sitting with couldnt beleive that he didnt use the red steer to win division 3 he talked him better than any other steer in that division. We also wondered how you could put the steer that was third overall and to have pulled him 3rd in class to start with didnt make much sense to us. Maybe he missed him at first I think he ended up with the right two or three on top but not sure about after that
