Hey guys I just calved my monopoly heifer and was wondering what I should breed her back to? I suspect she is a carrier. Extremely moderate and super super shaggy I'm talking fort worth type hair in middle of july (she was never shown has always been in the pasture.) She is a monopoly out of Glovers 505 cow. Solid black and polled. I just had a troubadour painted up bull calf out of her friday and I bet the sucker didnt weigh 60 pounds at most.

I have a Crimson Tide bull  calf out of a Monopoly first calf heifer that is really cool and chubby and marked like a shorthorn  I am thinking about breeding her back the same way.  I know the Monopoly heifer is a TH carrier, that's why I used CT.

I would try to get her checked out, cause if she is not a carrier you have several more options. I agree with I-80, what does the cow look like?

I'll get a pic soon but she very moderate. Black shaggy and complete is the best way to describe her real good level hipped and pretty fronted

Would I80 make them big enough out of these Monopoly cows? That'd be my concern.  I would vote Crimson Tide or One and Only.  Dirty Harry 2 worked well for us on a young Monopoly cow.  We just sold the calf.

I personally want to try one and only but have wondered how that would work with all the heat wave. Mainly looking at bullicious or crimson tide.

What our your goals for the next calve??

You want a smoke?

Why not go back with Troubador??

I would have her tested as well.

BTW Glad to hear the Troubador worked out.  We are gonna use him on our Monopoly heifer too..I think he may be pretty close to a calving ease bull from what I'm hearing on birth weights

I80 has some size at stud, so possibly. I see some i80 calves too small and some get bigger. So maybe. But I can see where it wouldn't as well.

Here is a photo of my Crimson Tide out of a Monopoly X Simmental first calf heifer at two doys old.  Also had two out of Walks Alone heifers and one out of a WMW heifer. They are a month old now and seem to have plenty of grow.

I'll be finding out in March what I-80 will throw. My son has his very broody monopoly x angus cow (tested TH & PHA free) bred to him for her second calf. She had a bull calf out of Smokin' Joe this spring that was 75lbs BW and is growing like mad.
