We have a steer for our county show - we are 43 days out now.  He is only weighing around 800 lbs - he has been implanted and we are feeding an additive that is supposed to help with gain as well.  Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get him to gain as much as possible for the next 43 days.  We didn't plan on him being this light and at this point are just trying to make the sale.  He's a good steer - just small framed and doesn't weigh enough.  Any suggestions or advice are welcome and appreciated!

Feed 2x or 3x per day.  8-12 pound/feeding if he'll clean it up.

Feed will have to high energy(mostly corn) with maybe a fat additive like Golden Flo.
Small amount of grass hay to keep rumen going well.

May reduce the quality of the hair somewhat, but you gotta get him big enough first.

At worst he will weigh around 950 if he eats what you provide.

Wormed him lately?
Keep him warm so he doesn't burn off calories staying warm.

Good luck!

There isn't a minimum weight.  We had 25 total weigh in and only 15 make the sale - weight doesn't matter.  We won the light weight class last year and ended up reserve overall with one that weighed close to 1100.
