There has been a lot of talk lately on pelvic measurements.  When do people normally do it? Weaning? Yearling?  What are acceptable measurements? At what point is to small and at what point is to big?

We measure end of April first week of May right before we turn out heifers with the bull.

I think you meant what is too small.  Our vet goes not only by measurement but shape and looks for bone spurs. There has to be a pretty good reason for us to keep anything under a 150 with an ideal shape.  It is the cut off that has worked for us.  140 is on the small end but I know some guys will keep them without issue.

We usually pelvic measure around 60 days before bull turnout. We haven't placed a lot of emphasis on the measurements for culling, but if they are really small in comparison to the group average, we'll cull her.

The measurements will be adjusted to a yearling age, so they need to be done in a certain age period then plugged into a formula. Same thing for bulls, but a different formula.
