For quite sometime I have been thinking about all the photographers in the cattle business. I was wondering if you were having professional pictures done on your farm who would you hire to take the pictures? And Why?

most of them are good in the midwest...go with the closest one that you like the personality and approach of.

I would hire Katy Jones at EDJE.  I have seen a lot of her work and have been very impressed by it.  Also she is my girlfriend and she would kill me if I hired someone else.  (lol)

I would hire Quint Huncovsky from Kansas. He takes almost all the pictures at the shows here in Kansas and also works for the show circuit he is great to work with and easy to get along with.

He is also very helpful, he would be the guy I would hire.

I'm not sure whether or not you're stuck on one of the big names or not, but Quinton Keeran, right here on SP, is getting going as a pretty darn good photographer.  He bases out of Ohio, I believe, but probably would travel and do a great job for you.  Q, are you listening?

Cindy Cagwin-Johnston is closest to me, and she's taken lots of pics for us at shows and I think they turned our really well.  Mark Sneed has also taken pictures of our cattle for sales and did a good job.  If Q would be willing to come to IL, I might have to get him to take a couple pics for me if we have a sale this year.

Don Birk and Mark Sneed take very good photos. That's probably who I'd look at.

Christy Collins would be my #1 pick, after her Mark Sneed has been doing a very nice job.  Quint Huncovsky does a great job for us at shows, not really ever seen his informal work, but he is great to work with and priced very competitively.  Darla also does a really nice job, but I think she does mostly Shorhorns.

I appreciate the publicity Dori! I have been working non stop on some pictures for a show I did last weekend. I am actually trying to get some more shoots booked for this summer, if anyone is interested. I am willing to travel, however I will have to be able to cover my costs, so if you only have a few to do, you may want to consider pooling in with another person or more. I am not trying to get rich, just build a name for myself doing something I love. Feel free to PM myself or Dori for my contact info, as I may not be available to check SP as often right now being my college schedule and such. Thank you for the interest.

Pearl from Pearl's Pics....  She does the MO state fair and did the Maine Jr. Nationals last year.  She did my daughters Princess pics last year at the American Royal complex and she has a way to do great pics with cattle and people.  She also does great promo cattle pics too!

Those are my favorites
Kent McCune's pics are the most natural in appearance, and are by far my favorite

I am not looking for a photograher just wondering. I would have to learn to do my own but just wondering other peoples ideas.

I can guarantee you this much, it is a true art, you can tell by the short list that it isn't something just anyone can do.
