I am not a professional photog., but I think if you cut out as much background chaos and have them standing in good clean bedding of some sort that would be a good start. Try and shoot your picture so that you are not shooting way below or above your subject. Make sure your subject is the center and only focus in your picture. If you photos will be taken outside the color is typically better if you have indirect sun (cloudy day). Look at a sire pictures and take note as to how they have their feet placed.
