Yesterday at the NECC show in Norfolk was my 8 year old Gavin's first time to show.  His heifer (Panda) acted great and he had a great experience.  Thought I would share a few pictures.

When I read this and saw his heifer's name, I knew exactly which kid you were talking about before I saw the picture! We were talking about how cute they were and what a nice heifer she is.  We hauled two heifers there just so our boys could show in the peewee class, good thing it's only 8 miles  ;)

Thanks for all the comments!  You know he enjoyed his first experience when he's begging to practice at home.

It doesn't matter how long any of us have ever been around showing, nothing can prepare you for the nervousness for sending your little ones in for the first time.

Tony had it pretty easy ,Gavin has for years had more desire to show than any kid I have seen ,maybe Tony didn't have it so easy because Gavin has been
doing things that most kids would not  try ...Along with his desire and determination  you can count this one as a full time showman for quite a while ....Doesnt hurt that he also has a family interested ,and very competitive also ....

The show at Norfolk is a great atmoshere for the kids and with the teenagers in school there helping run a lot of the show and they communicate good with the young showman ....Great place to start those youngster's and it also draws some very top calves to this show ....There pewee showmanship contest was a great hit ...

Brought a tear to my eye!  Last year was my sons first.  His heifer, had a heifer this fall and my son is so excited to get to show her!  Both of my kids are athletes in various sports, but seeing them walk in the ring still makes me as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof!  That is a nice little heifer and I hope the rest of the season goes by as well as it looks like this show did!

Awwe.  That brings back memories.  I posted a pic so you could see why.  This was son't first year also(8 years ago) and this was his first home raised girl.  Called her Mary Moo Cow.  Enjoy them.  They grow too fast.
