I moved cows to different pasture yesterday. Today I noticed  a couple of cows eating pine needles off limbs that  had blown off of a white pine tree. Any danger to this? Are they lacking something that would make the needles appealing. They shouldn't be hungry as there is some grass and rolled out a couple of bales of hay.

Generally, cows and pine needles are a bad combination.  The pine needles can cause pregnant cows to abort.  You can "Google" for more info.  I'd get 'em off the pasture where they can get to the needles. Even cows getting the best nutrition will eat them.
