Planting Pasture Grass

A while back i had a post about converting a crop field to pasture and never asked what you plant grass seed with.

it might sound like a dumb question butI wasnt raised in a farming family.

Ya thats what I was thinking about doing.

Cheaper than buying equipment and theyd probably do a better job than I could ever do.

Most seed dealers can do it or at least tell you where to do it. Most have a packer in front of the tractor, a seed drill, and another packer.

I seeded a dryland wheat field back to grass using a rangeland drill I rented.  Did it as an EQIP project because they were HEL lands.  The drill was only 10' wide, so it took 3 days to seed 80 acres each year for two years.  It worked OK -- have a nice stand of grass now.

I havent decided on what grass to use yet. But I still have atleast 4 years to decide.

As for location NE Iowa.
