Is your Seal 2nd granddaughter sired by Kenmar Ransom 32Z? JLP Cavalier, the sire of Cavalier 8th, was used mostly by Melbourne Farms according to the ASA website. Also in the pedigree is Meadowview Navarre, a son of Scotsdale Navarre, from the Thede herd. We bought quite a few heifer calves from the Thedes in their annual sale when we were getting started in the early to mid-60's. Ted Aegerter, Jeff's dad, would buy them on order for us. I still have the sale ticket for the first heifer I showed, Ted bought her for us for $200. Clara 141st, sired by Meadowview Constructor who was a son of Bapton Constructor. We got 3rd at the county fair in a class of 12. Clara never had a calf. Maybe I should have taken that as a sign and got into rabbits instead of Shorthorns.
JLP Shorthorns was owned by the Parrott family and I believe Scrags and Roger Appelgate, among others, used bulls of their breeding in the 70's. I know I saw a picture of at least one of their bulls in an old Shorthorn magazine a week or two ago. I'll look for it.
